    three-way fan switches

we currently have a fan on a three-way switch setup (two switches) which we turn on and off with only one of the switches.

we would like to convert this setup to use a 2477s on/off switch. do we need to install two 2477s units, one for each current switch? and, if so, how do we wire this?

    thanks in advance.

    thanks.

we were hoping to use the 2477s switches we already had on hand. the insteon description included on the smarthome web site mentioned that these could be used for fans.

    any/all insights welcome!

They can be used for fans. They are probably referring to exhaust fans but can work for regular fans as well.

You were simply given a better way to control your fan. The way recommended by Tfitzpatri8 gives control over light and different fan speeds.

The insteon manual from the product webpage has the instructions for wiring insteon for a 3 way setup. In order for you to have a quasi automated system with the way you want to do things, you would need to leave your Chain at whatever speed you use. That way, when you use the insteon switch, the fan will turn on to that speed. To change speeds, you would then need to manually pull your Chain
