Will a Mini Remote Model 2342-2 work on a new Insteon Hub?
Will a Mini Remote Model 2342-2 work on a new Insteon Hub?
I have a new Insteon Hub and I can't seem to get it to recognize the Mini remote 2342-2. Does anyone have any experience with this device and the Insteon Hub?
The only thing I would suggest is to temporarily move the mini remote to near the hub if you haven't already. If that doesn't work I suggest you contact Insteon Support at support@insteon.com.
Although I have four mini-remotes I have not paired them with the hub. (I started using these before the release of the Insteon Director app; Insteon for Hub doesn't support them.) I simply paired and created scenes directly between the remotes and Insteon switches and modules themselves, per the mini remote instructions.
If your Mini Remote hasn’t been updated in a while, it might need a firmware update. Older firmware versions might not fully support some features when paired with newer hubs.

You can't update the firmware. It has to be opened and programmed with a programmer and unless things have changed. The firmware programming file is not in the public domain.
