controlling devices outside of wifi

I have a need to install an Insteon ON/OFF switch that is outside of my home WiFi range. Will the Insteon network be able to connect to this device using only home wiring? And Control it?

Its going to depend on how far away it is from your existing Insteon network. Like TFitzpatri8 stated Insteon does not use WiFi. They use a powerline signal that goes through your house electrical wiring and an RF signal at 915Mhz.

The powerline signal can go about one mile and the RF can go about 200Ft+ in testing environments. If you have enough devices, and/or the circuit with the outlet you are using already has some Insteon on it you should be okay. You will need to test it out to be sure though.
