X10 > Insteon Upgrade ?

New user. Looking to upgrade from a 40+ year old X10 system to a newer, more reliable system. Insteon appears to be the #1 option.

Need one much less sensitive to interference than X10. Insteon might fill the bill, but is considerably more expensive. I like that it has X10 compatibility, this should make the upgrade easier and less disruptive.

New system must be standalone. I am NOT interested in, and do NOT want any "Cloud" based services (i.e., Alexa, Siri, Goggle Home, etc.)

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

X10 support was dropped from new Insteon modules awhile ago. Though some models unofficially still will accept an optional X10 address added to them.
The Dual Band modules use both RF and power line communications. So you have a much better chance of getting messages through. Though real BAD interference could still cause issues sometimes.
The Insteon HUB uses a Cloud setup.

The Insteon switches use a Neutral power connection in the electrical box. Most x10 one did not. So you may want to look to see if your electrical switch boxes have a neutral in the. There is one two wire Insteon switch. It is made for incandescent loads only.

The stand alone Universal Devices ISY994i can do both X10 and Insteon.
The base model can have options added like Z-Wave, IR Upgrade to the Plus model with a firmware purchase, X10 module that is convenient but not needed for X10 support. Access the net if you want to. If you want to start small and add things later.
