    Protocol Bridge

What would be the possibility of a protocol bridge for bridging other 3rd party switches and devices to Insteon. Perhaps even to Modbus or BacNet or DMX512 (theater device protocol) Build it in software so you could have the base bridge device and then purchase the bridge protocols as needed.

When the INSTEON system was first introduced, it made use of the power line communications protocol as its communication protocol. It was necessary to connect the phases together using a hardwired bridging mechanism. Smartlabs suggested that you get a certified electrician to complete the installation. In a 2-phase household electrical system, bridging phases can be quite harmful. It was a wise decision to hire an electrician to do the work. Or may be, Smartlabs followed suit shortly after, introducing RF bridges that were offered in pairs. One of the bridges was hooked into a 115VAC outlet in a room someplace in the house, and the other was not. The second bridge was plugged into a different 115VAC outlet on the same circuit as the first. The bridges guided the homeowner through a set-up process to ensure that the second bridge was linked to basketball legendsthe opposite phase of the electrical system. After this was accomplished, radio frequency (RF) communications were used to transfer power line messages between phases, bridge-to-bridge. INSTEON communications were still subjected to the impacts of power line noise and poor phase-to-phase communications when the system was first installed.

Hopefully this is still on topic, but it would be savvy to see Insteon move towards certification with the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) and "Matter" connections. I realize CSA is a Zigbee based protocol that isn't compatible, but maybe Insteon can get it's hubs updated to work in unison. Since Google and Alexa (Amazon) have gone in that direction, it would be smart for Insteon to stay relevant for future integration.
