FanLinc light is red but fan still spinning

When I first installed this FanLinc, it seemed to be working fine and was configured properly to be working with Home Assistant. Unsure if this is related, but after a while we started noticing that certain other activities we would do such as turning on the light for another fan in another room would cause the light for this fan to flash. After having used it in this condition for a few years, the fan can no longer be turned completely off. I finally got the fan canopy opened and discovered the lights are both red. even though the fan is spinning. The manual even says that when the fan button is pressed on the controller, the blades won’t move, but they do in our case.

We’re able to turn the fan higher, just not off, and the light works as expected. The only way to get the fan completely stopped is to cut power. I’ve also tried a factory reset on the controller which seems
    to have no effect.

Could this be a simple wiring problem or is it possible that I have a bad control controller I need to replace it?

If it is spinning even when you have it off and you can still get the higher speeds on the fan.
It also spins after a reset.
It points to the FanLinc having a component has failed.
You may want to also wait and see if others have any more tips on this issue,

Yes, the fan and light loads should be off if the LEDs are Red (signifying off)

I agree with BLH where one of the three components that controls the three fan's speeds has failed in the shorted condition that allows power continuously to the fan. I do not suspect that Home Assistant is contributing to the issue. The best solution is a new Fan controller, or you want to attempt a repair yourself, I can tell you the part number to order from DigiKey or the less desirable Mouser.

Product revisions after 3.0 have improvements to decrease to likelihood of this issue.
