Open/Close Sensor Turns on Light but Not Off

I have an on/off (2843-222) switch that I'd like to simply turn on and off bulb 2672-222 (discontinued I would guess). I've paired them both to my Hub and set up a scene but the bulb will not turn off when the door is closed, only when it opens. I also don't remember having to set up a scene for this function in the past being that it is a dedicated function for a specific controller/responder. Can someone shed some light on doing this simple action? I've removed the devices and scenes a few times now with the same results.
