IRLinc forgets command after power loss

I have an IRLinc and I followed the instructions to learn a remote command while plugged into an extension cord it learns the code and pressing the set button to test it works fine. I can pair it with a switch and that works fine. But when I remove the extension cord to plug it into the outlet, everything is lost. The set button no longer sends the command and the linked switch does nothing. It's supposed to have non-volatile memory, right?

You are correct. I had one IRLinc that behaved that way. I ended up replacing it under warranty. But, before you do that, try a factory reset.

I did the factory reset a few times but still no luck. I guess I'll contact support and see what they say. Thanks!

I wouldn't expect the Set button to trigger the IR command after power is lost and restored--that's only supposed to confirm the command you just taught--but I would expect a linked controller to still behave properly. Are you certain the IRLinc is still able to hear the power line signals at the second location? If you teach it a command, unplug it from the extension, then plug it back into the same extension, does it work as expected when triggered by the switch you just linked? It's not unusual that gear plugged in around entertainment centers can be hostile to power line signals.

Yeah I just tried programming it, linking with the switch and everything works, the switch triggers the IR command and operates the TV. Then unplugging the extension cord and plugging it back into the same outlet erases everything, including the link with the switch.

Sounds like you have a broken one.
