    Replacement Cable

I got a 2413S via e-bay, but it did not come with a cable. To complicate matters, I also don't have a 9-pin serial port on the Linux (ubuntu) machine that I want to connect the PLM to, though I do have open USB ports.

    Will this work: https://www.amazon.com/Console-Essen...o+serial+cable

Or do I need to buy a separate 9-pin to RJ45 serial cable and usb to 9-pin adapter (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ZDU22Z1E&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/VONOTO-Serial...9+pin+serial)?

    Thanks,

    Bruce

I don't think they will work. The PLM serial cable only uses three signals. Serial In, Serial Out and GND {Common}. The JR45 jack on the PLM has other signals on it. Serial TTL and should not be connected to anything if you are using RS232. The users manual for the PLM gives you the connections the three wires used in the cable. There is a link on the 2413S sales page to download the manual if you didn't get it.

The cables you linked to have have other signals on them and probably will not match the RJ45 to DB9 signals Smartlabs dedicated for serial communications.
You maybe able to get a USB to Serial Port adapter and then use the DB9 connector on it and make a cable for the PLM with a DB9 connector on it.

Smartenit shows a replacement cable on their web site. https://smartenit.com/product/plm-serial-cable/
