Hub firmware update 1016 breaks OpenHAB binding

As users of other 3rd party software (Homeseer, for example) have noticed, the new 1016 hub update has broken the Insteon binding for OpenHAB. There is currently no workaround.

More info can be found here: https://community.openhab.org/t/insteon-update/46665/4

I would recomend everyone open a ticket and send an email to custsvc@smarthome.com

      here is what I sent:
      -------
insteon HUB firmware update broke homeseer 3rd party access - cannot log in locally via http

I contacted insteon support. the 1016 firmware changes the local access of the hub from http to https and required SSL.

this breaks homeseer plugin access and now the automation system is down for hundreds of customers.

A developer need to provide http string access like before in a update for homeseer.com

      this thread will explain:
      https://forums.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=196335
      -------

      i got this response:
      -------
We have received Mark's message and it has been forwarded onto the developer team for review. At this time however I do not have a timeline to provide on any resolution for this.

I submitted the issue to Insteon via an email to support@insteon.com. I assume the end result will be the same.

I feel violated with Insteon. This is a hard pill to swallow , Ive warned Insteon of security issues in the past but got negative responses): and never imagines they would meddle with ssl .I'm really leaning towards the choice of local control for hub 2, anybody else on board with that? This automatic update business is obviously a big problem.

Maybe I'm too harsh. I'm confident they will resolve this soon.

In case you haven't seen the most recent communication from Insteon, this is what they sent out:

                Hello

I am very sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the most recent update.

We are aware of an issue where our latest hub firmware update (1016) caused integrations using local http commands to stop functioning. While this is not an officially supported API, we understand that having local command and control is preferred among a select group of users as well as some 3rd party software developers. Therefore we will be looking to make the necessary updates to restore this functionality. If you are using the local API, we would like to invite you to join our beta group to assist us in testing our next update. Your participation will also ensure that any future updates do not impact your integration. To submit your request to join the beta program, fill out the form here. Be sure to select OpenHAB or HomeSeer as the software you are using so that we can arrange a special firmware build that will restore local API control. Please be patient as we will need time to get you setup as a beta tester and to configure your account.

Thank you for choosing Insteon for your home automation network and we appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue.

If you do not wish to join the beta program, but still require we push out the modified firmware, please reply back to this email with your Hub ID number, and associated email address, and we will have our software team push out the necessary update.

Please forward this request along to other effected users you are aware of who may not have already contacted us regarding the issue. They can send their emails to support@insteon.com with the subject line “1016 Firmware Direct Command Issue” and we will take care of them ASAP.

                Kind regards,

                - Daniel P - Customer Solution Lead
