Controller vs Responder

This isn't a question but an answer to a question I had and wanted to share. When you set up a scene you can designate a device to be a controller, a responder, or both. Which do you pick. Here's a quick run down:

Controller: Initiates an action. Push a button or flip a switch and something happens.
Responder: Performs the action. Turn on a light, dim a light, light up a button, etc.
Both: Will both initiate an action and respond to an action.
For example, if you have a scene that dims a switch to 50%, you would want to set your switch as a responder only. If you set it to a controller, it will initiate an action that nothing will respond to (nothing will happen). If you set it to both, every time you turn on the switch, it will set your light to 50% and the only way to get it to 100% would be to use an app or Alexa or something else.

If you want a more detailed explanation, you can go here.
