I am trying to add an Insteon outlet to my Hub using the Director App and it's not finding the outlet. I have lots of switches and a motion sensor already on the Hub so I know how to add new devices. I haven't added anything recently but everything already on there works perfectly still. I have tried to add the outlet using the set button and also entering the outlet ID. Neither have worked. I can see the hub light start blinking when I start the process to add the device, but it just times out. The outlet is working, green lights are on and I have plugged a lamp into it and used the buttons to turn it on and off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rufus, this might or might not help. Try the linking process with nothing plugged into the Insteon Outlet. Sometimes, if the Insteon device is on and powering a device, that thing could be generating electrical noise or in some ways contributing to poor communications.
Another idea is to unplug other devices on the same circuit or the nearby outlets. Sometimes, those devices can be interfering with powerline communications. If one of those two suggestions work, you may need a FilterLinc for the offending device.

Thank you John. Nothing is plugged into the Insteon outlet when I am trying to link it. However, there are other things plugged in on the circuit so I will try unplugging those things to see it that works.
Also, a follow up question I just thought of...does it matter that the outlet I replaced is in a two-gang junction box (two outlets)? There is power coming into the box, which I pig tailed to the Insteon outlet and jumper wires to the second outlet in the box. The second outlet (not an Insteon) is also connected to another wire that runs out of the box down the line to the next outlet on the circuit.

I don't expect that the presence of a second passive outlet in the same electrical box is an issue as the way you described the wiring. Like the other suggestions, unplug anything in that outlet when you attempt linking.
Perhaps at a higher level, make sure that your Hub interface is not behind a UPS or power-filtering strip. I sometimes use a 100-foot Ethernet cable to move my Internet devices to another part of the house for testing. All the networking gizmos and things around the Hub II could also be contributing to issues even with the RF second path.
I hope these tips give you some ideas and definitely let the forum community know what worked. Perhaps it will help others.
