Camera Motion Detection?

I thought the camera allowed me to set specific areas in its field of view where it was sensitive to motion detection. But it seems that (1) that feature is Windows only in that it requires ActiveX to be installed (horrors), and (2) if that is true then the feature is only available via your computer, which must be up and running 24/7. Am I right in concluding that there is no way for me to use this feature? (Running a Mac and having any computer on continuously is a deal-breaker for me.)

The INSTON camera does not require any particular browser. IE, Firefox, Safari all work with the camera. You can select any one of 8 fields of view and have the camera send you an image when it detects motion. No computer is required.

Thank-you for your response. In a browser window, under the tab "Alarm Service Settings" I can check the box "Motion Detection Alarmed", and I can set motion sensitivity from 1 to 10. I can also set Sound Detection Alarmed but I haven't tried that yet. I can "Send Mail on Alarm", which works fine, and upload pictures and set a schedule. I see nothing that allows me to establish specific areas within the frame where I want motion to be detected. Am I in the right place or is there another setting somewhere that allows me to do this?

Adjust the camera to the position you want. Select a "Preset" from 1 to 8. Click on Set. From Device Management, select PT (or PTZ) Setting. Uncheck Disable Preset. Check Go to Preset on Boot. Submit.

I don't think we're fully communicating here. What I'm asking is how do I set specific areas within the frame to be enabled for motion detection. I thought I read that somewhere about this camera, but since I'm not getting responses about that exact feature then I guess maybe I was reading about another camera somewhere. It showed a scene, with squares covering the entire frame -- you would click on areas (squares) of interest and only this areas would be sensitive to motion.

Nearly all CCTV camera support area specific motion detection. Some IP cameras do, too. The INSTEON HD camera (2864-222) has that option. The 75790 does not.
