In regards to your complaint, there is nothing wrong with the software. They are choosing not to spend time/money developing for something that will not offer any tangible returns for them.

Nest support was added because a large amount of users requested it. It's one of the most popular thermostats (if not most popular). At the end of the day, their desire is to bring you into their ecosystem which means their thermostat.

The app you keep referencing is does not have an ecosystem to sell. Their only reason for existence is for you to use their app with your product. They are not trying to sell you anything. It behooves them to support your thermostat as you may use another app that does support it.

Using your auto shop analogy, it's akin to you taking your car to the dealer with all aftermarket parts asking them to fix it. Sure they probably could work on it. However since they generally don't support 3rd party, they will steer you to genuine parts in order to make it work. The flip side would be some 3rd party mechanic. They will fix or put in whatever you want. Insteon is the dealer, your app is the 3rd party

This thread wasn't about whether or not the hub software sucks. It was about insteon supporting a particular thermostat. Based on what the thread is about, (as stated earlier) there is nothing wrong with the software.

Now, if you want to start a new thread about bugs and other issues then that would be a different story. However based on this discussion, there is nothing wrong

You're beating a dead horse. Insteon is a hardware company interested in selling their hardware not supporting everything out there. They made their hub to control their equipment. As stated earlier, you are better off getting a thermostat that is supported.

Insteon does not rely on mesh technology as does Z-Wave. Insteon is primarily a powerline protocol to which RF is included to improve reliability. The technology does not require mixing different technologies nor even different brands or frequencies.

Insteon is definitely not WiFi. Neither is Z-Wave. Each uses a different radio band that provides exclusiveness.
