Historic: Hardware - Firmware Release Log

As a long time Insteon user one of the most painful things to cope with is receiving a brand new device and programming it and finding out after 99999 hours why something doesn't work.

Is because that previous feature has since been deprecated / removed from the current release. Nothing is more frustrating to learn after a large purchase and installing hundreds of devices into a clients home. Spending countless hours programming it, as others before them have and to find out that feature no longer exists!!!

I know this asking a lot for a company that historically does not share anything with the public / masses.

But, I can tell you from a business, customer, and technical stand point. Making these changes in the documents, WiKi, what ever resource you wish will go a long way to set the expectation and keep customer satisfaction up.

Lots of people would like to know why a long time feature was removed. But, we all know that information will never be provided so to balance that lack of information the least you could do is call it out.

There are tens of thousands of people all over the world who are reading the forums. They are basing their decision on related material stated in these forums to design, build, and deploy said systems on the feature sets indicated.

These people obviously can't do the same thing if the feature is removed!

Moving forward: Please indicate the changes in a log, WiKI, or what ever method you desire. No matter what can you at least inform the poor front line guys in Tech Support??? These poor guys normally are the last to know which makes absolutely no sense since they are the one's trying to provide a solution which keeps retention and maintains customer satisfaction.

COMMUNICATION: This is a ongoing joke that Smarthome, Smartlabs, has terrible communications. Lets try to break this cycle in 2015 and provide the customer a better Insteon experience.

    Thank You

It looks like we have another round of updates to various Insteon devices. The latest Trigger Linc, Open / Close sensor now has extra options for setting the heart beat, low voltage battery conditions, etc. The two full users manual 1.9 / 1.9+ have no mention of any of these new features. I do realize there are time lags from publishing docs etc.

But, this comes down to planning and scheduling and only take a few minutes to update a 10 page e-doc. Smartlabs / Smarthome really need to focus on providing timely and accurate information about the product and features each device is capable of supporting.

2015 is just around the corner so lets get this information to the public.

obviously, teken, no one person is responsible for these simple updates and subsequent documentation. i have a very large investment in both time and money and am disappointed to see how instead seems to keep falling further and further behind the competition everyday.
