Amazon Echo discovers THOUSANDS of devices

Hello...I just installed my new hub so that it would work with the Echo. I was able to add the skill and my hub to the Echo. After discovery, I have about 1700 devises that it found. I tried deleting the skill and re-adding the hub but same thing happens. On my Android Insteon app, I can see and control the six devices I have. Any suggestions?

Sounds like an Echo error, not Insteon. Have you tried contacting Amazon. In my experience, they're very helpful. BTW, after deleting the skill did you have the Echo forget all devices before rediscovering?

I'm not sure how to forget all devices. I looked but did not see any option to do that. I'll try Amazon support, Thanks!

Well, after an hour on the phone with Echo support, it works. I have a dual band router 2.4 & 5. I renamed the 5 with a different SSID rebooted/reinstalled the skill, and it worked. I was impressed with the Echo support person. It was not your run of the mill issue.

As a side note: in many cases the 5G network will prevent network discovery of devices on your network. This may explain the anomalie in the device count. Normally this is considered a guest network.

Why would you use the faster speed only for your guests? I use 5GHz as my main WiFi connection such as laptops and tablets, 2.4GHz for slower devices such as cameras. Virtually every router allows either or both as guest connections.
