One for the Experts: Scene Button behaves differently than scene on app

Created a scene which raises and lowers a window shade. Micro up/down is responder, keypad scene H button is controller. Now dig this: When I turn the scene on and off via the Android app scene room as well as via the keypad button on the app, it behaves perfectly. However, when I press the scene button on the keypad, the off behavior is perfect, but the on behavior, for some reason, causes the shade to stop too soon. Any thoughts on this head scratcher? Thank you in advance.

Using the original window shade controller and an accurate timer, measure the time from full up to full down and full down to full up. For accuracy, measure at least three times and take the average. Is the time for each direction identical?

The timer is set AOK and the motor up/down limiters are set at the motor fine The scene on/off works perfectly when launched from the app scene room and the keypad button via the app. The bad behavior happens only when the physical keypad button is turned "on". "off" works perfectly via the physical keypad.

stus also it doesn't just miss by a few inches...it stops at like only 20% or so of the distance...so misses by a huge margin. do you think there might be some dimming involvement??

An Insteon device can send dim only to a dimmer, even if the controller is a dimmer. (And an On/Off device can send dim, but only if the responder is a dimmer.) But, what about the carefully measured time using the original motor controller?

16 seconds up, 15 seconds down. timer is set to 17 seconds, which puts it beyond the motor's max up/down. works perfectly. just that physical button is doing something odd.

Have you tried a longer time? What's the result if you reverse the motor direction of the open/close module?

spoke to support. they said they've come across this before. added controller/reponder manually and it worked fine. (initially did with software)
