Actually what I meant is, what made them offered a product that runs US-regulated RF (915mhz) and at the same time supporting full range of 110-240v + 50/60hz

Because what we are saying here is that there is no incentive for them to create product (PLM for one) that is 915mhz and still support non-US format of 220v/50hz for example.

Of course there's an incentive. For example, the 2242 is available for Europe.
Message from Forum Admin: stusviews passed away in April 2018. Stu was a huge fan of Insteon and a huge presence on both the Smarthome and Insteon forums, helping thousands of us along the way (he had nearly 20,000 posts to his name). We thank him for his contributions, dedication, and passion for making the Smart Home a reality. He will truly be missed.

But i'm speaking about the one with 915mhz RF frequency. That model of insteon hub is certainly not intended for outside of the US (because of the 915mhz RF), yet it supports 110-240v, 50/60hz.

If using the incentive argument of BLH, Insteon would simply make such 915mhz RF frequency supporting 110, 60hz only. (like the current PLM)

Otherwise, by the same token, if they are willing to do this, the same reason could give them incentive to create a PLM product that is 915mhz and supporting 110-240v, 50/60hz, just like the hub.

Not saying that they MUST, just wondering the possibility for the sake of argument.

All the new designs have universal AC power inputs. So even if a module is only made for the US and Canada. It will still have the same wide AC Inputs.
The older 2242-222 US HUB is also made for different parts of the world. Same universal AC power input different AC power cord and RF Frequency for the country it is being sold in. Also has that countries safety standards verified, to be used there. The US 2242-222 HUB is not sold here anymore. It is still the one sold for other countries. The new 2245-222 US HUB has the universal power input as expected but for now only made for the US with 915MHz RF.

The universal power SwitchLincs use 915MHz are only made to be used in the US and Canada. So only a 915MHz RF is offered. Though they will work in other areas of the world
There are Insteon Modules made to be used in other parts of the world. They have the proper RF frequency and are made to meet that countries electrical standards.

Smartlabs rarely gives advanced new module being developed information to the public. So there could be a universal AC power type PLM replacement in the works and we would have no clue it was being developed.

            That's very insightful. Thanks!

              Hi
Did you mean 2245 222 US hub will work on 240V?
              Thanks
